Diathermy

Diathermy is a technique that involves the use of a high-frequency electrical current to produce intense heat to a specified treatment area. This intense heat is able to destroy unhealthy or unwanted tissue, whilst leaving the surround tissue unharmed.

Information

The device itself is a small handpiece that delivers the electrical current through a probe the size of an eyelash. This means that the treatment is very precise and only the targeted tissue is affected. Therefore, the risk of scarring or post-inflammatory pigmentation is very unlikely.

We treat milia, skin tags, cherry angiomas, some fine capillaries, sebaceous hyperplasia and seborrheic keratoses. In some cases, we may ask that you have has a skin check before treatment (some of these lesions can be a differential diagnoses for other lesions), however our Dermal Clinicians are experienced in determining risk and ensuring treatment safety.

  • Seborrheic Keratoses
  • Dermatosis papulosa nigra (DNP)
  • Sebaceous cysts

In a standard appointment, we can remove several lesions (depending on size).
